You can never go wrong with some commonly asked questions. They’re a great read if you’re going on a camping trip for the first time – or whether you just need a refresher.

Do I need insurance for my tent?
This is all down to personal preference and what risks you’re willing to take. We would recommend taking out an insurance policy if you’re a regular camper and you have lots of costly equipment with you.
Insurance policies for camping usually involve covering your tent and equipment and so if you feel that your tent is likely to be stolen or damaged then you might consider an insurance policy. You might also want to have an insurance policy for your treasured equipment and activity gear, just to be safe.
How can I find my tent in a crowded field?
Now this is easy peasy. We know tents can all look the same, especially when it’s dark – so you should consider getting a unique flag or windsock for your tent so that it’s always identifiable amongst a big crowd. Some windsocks or flags on the market even float above your tent.
You could also place lighting around your tent so that it’s easier to see, but always be considerate of other campers around you.
What’s the most important item to take camping?
The most important item when camping always varies from person to person and what you consider a necessity. Of course, the number one priority is your tent as it will be your temporary home for your trip.
We’d say a few items amongst the most important are:
- Water
- Sleeping bag (to keep you warm!)
- First aid kit
- Spare clothes

What’s the best location to camp?
There are heaps of beautiful locations to camp in – but of course, what we find beautiful might be completely different to you… plus – you might not even be looking for a scenic area.
When you choose your camping location you should think about what sort of trip you want to have, are you looking for a fun trip full of activities, or a relaxing one?
If you’re looking for a fun trip, you’ll want to plan the location based on activities that are available around the area – such as water sports or cycling etc. However, if you fancy something relaxing, head for the more rural and isolated areas with great views.
How can I stay clean when camping?
Usually, campsites have on-site facilities for you to use such as showers and toilets. However, if you’re camping somewhere that these facilities aren’t available – you can take your own!
There are lots of different portable showers and toilets for camping as well as tent cubicles for privacy. You can also freshen up your clothes and take a small washing line with you to hang the clothes to dry.
Once you get the hang of it, it’s easy to keep up the hygiene when you’re camping.
